Prepare for the End Of Days: Discipleship in the Wilderness

Updated: Oct 4, 2025

Isaiah 35:1, 10

“The wilderness and the solitary place will be glad for them; and the desert will be joyful for them; and blossom like the rose”

“And those who are rescued by YHWH shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting pleasure upon their heads: they will reach joy and gladness, and grief and groaning will vanish away”

In a world system filled with so much distractions and noise, many of our people are searching for deeper meaning and relief. We are living through The Tribulation, and with all the change, turmoil and upheaval all around us, it’s logical to be concerned about what lies ahead for those of us who serve Yahushua ha Mashiach. The idea of discipleship in the wilderness resonates with those who seek a more profound connection with their faith and it’s roots… Yahushua ha Mashiach. This journey is not only about physical survival; it is about spiritual growth in and understanding in the body of Christ.

As we prepare for the end of days it’s essential to reflect on what it means to be a disciple of Yahushua. This post will explore the significance of discipleship in the wilderness, offering practical insights and examples to help you navigate this path.

Understanding Discipleship

Matthew 10:24, 14:26-27, 33

“The disciple is not above their master, nor the servant above their lord. It is enough for the disciple that he be like their master, and servant as their lord. If they have called the master of the house Satan, how much more will they call them from his household”

Discipleship is more than just following a set of rules. It is about building a relationship with YAH through his son Yahushua and learning to live according to His teachings.

  • What does it mean to be a disciple?

- A disciple is someone who learns from a teacher. A learner/disciple is not in a position to question or challenge their teacher, they simply learn and follow. In a spiritual context, this means following the teachings of Yahushua and applying them to daily life. Yahushua teaches that a disciple is complete only when they become like their teacher.

  • Why is it important?

- Discipleship helps us grow in our faith. It encourages us to seek a deeper understanding of YAH’S word and ways. It gives us the strength to live out our beliefs in practical ways.

As we face uncertain circumstances, the call to discipleship becomes even more critical.

The Wilderness Experience

Ezekiel 20: 34-35

“And I will bring you out from the peoples, and will gather you out from the countries wherein you are scattered, with a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with anger poured out. And I will bring you into the the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will govern you face to face”

The wilderness is often seen as a place of isolation and struggle. However, it’s a space for growth and transformation.

  • Biblical Examples:

- Yahushua spent 40 days in the wilderness, where He faced temptation and emerged stronger in His mission.

- The Israelites wandered in the desert for 40 years, learning to trust YAH for their needs.

These stories remind us that the wilderness can be a place of preparation.

Preparing for the Last Days

Revelation 12:6

“And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by Elohim (God), so that they should feed her there for 3 1/2 years”

As we look toward the future, it is essential to prepare ourselves spiritually. Here are some practical steps to consider:

  1. Study Scripture:

Regularly read and meditate on the Bible to help you understand YAH’S will and strengthen your faith.

    2. Pray Consistently:

Develop a habit of prayer. 3 times a day (morning, noon and night) is a good place to start. This coincides with the ancient priestly rituals of daily sacrifices. This is your direct line of communication with YAH… YAH’s true elect pray to him day and night

    3. Fellowship with Others:

Surround yourself with like-minded followers of Yahushua. Anybody can call themself a believer, but it’s the followers of Yahushua who are his true disciples. Find another individual or a small group that encourages spiritual growth. Remember the Master’s teaching that where it’s 2 or 3 together, he’s there in the middle among them.

    4. Serve Others:

Look for opportunities to help those in need. Serving others is a practical way to live out your faith.

    5. Practice Gratitude:

Count your blessings daily. Keep a gratitude journal. Reflecting on what you’re thankful for will shift your perspective and deepen your faith.

By taking these steps, you can prepare your heart and mind for the challenges ahead.

The Role of Community

Acts 2:42-47

“And they continued firmly in the apostles teachings and participation, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. And fearful respect came upon every man, woman, and child: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. And all that believed were together, and had all things shared; and sold their possessions and goods, and distributed them to all, as every one had need. And they, continuing daily with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their food with gladness and simplicity of mind, praising YAH, and having favor with all people. And The Master added to the church daily such as should be saved”

Discipleship is not a solo journey. Community plays a vital role in our spiritual growth.

  • Support and Accountability:

- Being part of a community of followers provides support during difficult times. It also holds you accountable to your commitments.

  • Shared Learning:

- Learning from other followers will deepen your understanding of truth. Different perspectives can enrich your spiritual journey.

  • Encouragement:

- A community of followers can uplift you when you feel discouraged. Sharing experiences and testimonies will inspire and motivate.

Seek, knock, and find a group that aligns with your understanding of the truth.

Embracing the Wilderness

Luke 3:3-4

“And he came into all the country around Jordan, preaching the baptism of Yohannan (John) repentance for the forgiveness of sins; like it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying, The voice of one shouting for help in the wilderness, Prepare you the road of The Master, make his track level”

The wilderness can be intimidating, but it’s also a place of discovery. Here are some ways to embrace this experience:

  • Reflect on Your Journey:

- Take time to think about your spiritual path. What lessons have you learned? What challenges have you faced? What obstacles did you overcome?

  • Seek Solitude:

- Spend time alone with our Father YAH. Devoting a certain time to YAH alone is necessary for spiritual renewal and enhancing your mental connection with him. This can be in nature, at home, or anywhere you feel comfortable.

  • Listen for Guidance:

- Be open to what YAH is saying to you. Sometimes, silence can be the loudest teacher.

  • Trust the Process:

- Growth takes time. Be patient with yourself and others as you navigate your spiritual journey.

Embracing the wilderness can lead to profound transformation.

The Importance of Perseverance

Ephesians 6:-11-13

“Put on the whole armor from YAH, so that you may be able to hold up against the trickery of the devil. Becaus we don’t wrestle with flesh and blood beings, but against rulers, against authorities, against the world ruler of the darkness of this world system, against demonic plots of wickedness in high places. So now take to yourself the whole armor from YAH, so that you may be able to stand against in the days of evil, and having fully worked absolutely to hold up”

As you walk this path, you will encounter challenges along with spiritual warfare. Perseverance is key to overcoming obstacles.

  • Stay Committed:

- Keep your focus on your goals. Remember why you started this journey.

  • Learn from Setbacks:

- Mistakes are part of growth. Use them as learning opportunities rather than reasons to give up.

  • Celebrate Progress:

- Acknowledge your achievements, no matter how small. This can boost your motivation and encourage you to keep going.

Perseverance will strengthen your faith and prepare you for the future.

The Power of Faith

Hebrews 11:1

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen”

Matthew 17:20

“… If you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, move away from here and go to another place; and it would move; and nothing would be impossible to you”

Faith is the foundation of discipleship. It’s what drives us to seek a closer relationship with YAH. We are the conduit and it is the generator that powers us and our ability to achieve the impossible.

  • Trust in YAH’S Plan:

- Even when things seem uncertain, trust that YAH has a purpose for your life.

  • Lean on His Promises:

- The Bible is filled with promises that can provide comfort, hope, and strength in our darkest hours.

  • Act on Your Faith:

- Take steps that align with your understanding of the truth. This can be as simple as showing kindness to others or standing up for what is right… even when it’s hard.

Faith is a powerful weapon, and a tool that will guide you through the wilderness.

Living Out Your Discipleship

Luke 14:26-27

“If any one come to me, and not love less his father, and mother, and wife, and children and brothers, and sisters, yea, and their own life also, that one cannot be my disciple. And whosoever doesn’t carry their cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple”

Discipleship is not just about personal growth; it is also about how you impact others.

  • Be a Light:

- Let your actions reflect your beliefs. This can inspire others to seek a relationship with YAH.

  • Share Your Story:

- Your experiences can encourage others. Be open about your journey and the lessons you have learned.

  • Mentor Others:

Once you are immersed in Yahushua’s name, you will become an active fully functional member of the Body of Christ deputized under the great commission (Mark 16:15-16) - Consider guiding someone who is new to the faith. Your support can make a significant difference in their journey.

Living out your discipleship will create a ripple effect in your community.

Finding Hope in the Wilderness

Isaiah 32:15-19

“Until the spirit be poured out on us from on high, and the wilderness become a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted like a forest. Then the judgement will lodge in the wilderness, and righteousness will remain in the fruitful field”

In times of uncertainty, it is easy to feel lost. However, the wilderness can also be a source of hope.

  • Look for Signs of Growth:

- Even in difficult times, there are opportunities for growth.

  • Connect with Nature:

- Spending time outdoors will remind you of YAH’S creation and His presence in your life.

  • Practice Mindfulness:

- Being present in the moment will help you appreciate the beauty all around you.

Finding hope in the wilderness will transform your perspective.

The Journey Ahead

Daniel 12:1

“And at that time Michael will stand firm, the great captain which stands firm for the children of your people: and there will be a time of tribulation, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time your people will be rescued, every one that will be found written in the book”

As we prepare for the final days, remember that discipleship to Yahushua is a lifelong journey.

  • Stay Open to Change:

- Be willing to adapt as you grow.

  • Continue Learning:

- There’s always more to discover about your faith.

  • Embrace Community:

- Stay connected with others who share your beliefs.

The journey ahead may be challenging, and even perilous at times, but it’s also filled with opportunities for growth, love, hope and cheerful expectation.
